When my husband and I married 45 years ago, his Uncle Bill gave us a microwave oven. A recipe book came along with the oven. This recipe for microwave fudge was in that book. I have tweaked it a bit over the years and I have made it many times. It is always so good and so very easy! It only makes an 8 X 8 dish of fudge so it’s the perfect amount to have for a family or to package up to give as a gift. I hope you will like it as much as we do.
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients to make the Best Microwave Fudge!
- Powdered sugar
- Cocoa
- Half & Half or Heavy Cream
- Butter (not margarine)
- Vanilla Flavoring
- Nuts – if desired
Directions and Tips
- Be sure to sift your powdered sugar and cocoa. Then stir that all together well. (See the top 3 pictures above this paragraph.)
- Cut the butter into pieces and place it around on top of the sugar and cocoa but do not stir. Add your half & half and again, do not stir. Microwave for 1 minute on high.
- Take out and stir well. Add the vanilla and nuts (if desired).
- Microwave again for 1 minute.
- Stir and pour into an 8 X 8 glass dish. I do grease my dish with a little Pam or butter.
- Don’t forget to let someone lick the spoon! Yum!
- It will firm up just sitting out but you can cover it and put it in the fridge if you’d like.
- And…if you happen to add too much liquid and your fudge does not set well, you can put it back into the bowl, add some more powdered sugar and cocoa and reheat it in the microwave for a minute. Stir it up and you’re good to go! I will admit…I know this from experience! : )
And here’s a tip: Cut your fudge with a warm sharp knife or with a warmed pizza cutter. You can warm it in some very hot water and it will cut your squares very nicely!
