Ninja Creami Protein Smoothie Bowl Recipe: Easy and Yummy - Fit Healthy Macros (2024)

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

When I bought my Ninja Creami ice cream machine earlier this year, I had no idea how popular of a product it would be! I’ve made dozens of protein ice cream recipes with my Ninja Creami and you all have loved them.

However, while I was totally obsessed with making ice cream, I failed to realize that this machine is truly capable of so much more! So I decided that my next conquest would be to master the Ninja Creami Smoothie Bowl recipe.

I love smoothie bowls. Back when I lived in Western Massachusetts, there was a little smoothie shop downtown that I would go to as often as I could. It was such a highlight of my time spent in that little town. My whole family adored the smoothie bowls and smoothies!

3 Reasons Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  2. Customizable. Smoothie bowls are so fun because they are completely customizable. You get to select your favorite toppings and make sure it fits in your macros!

Ingredients

  • Vanilla protein powder: I used 1st Phorm Level-1 in the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor. You can use any variety of protein powder you choose, in any flavor. Clean Simple Eats is another favorite around here (code TAMI).
  • Milk: I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk. You can use any milk of your choice.
  • Strawberry sugar-free pudding mix: I used Simple Delish Sugar-Free Pudding Mix. You can feel free to use whatever you have available or omit this ingredient altogether. The purpose of this mix is to add a bit more sweetness and strawberry flavor to the smoothie bowl.
  • Frozen strawberries: These add sweetness and plenty of vitamins and minerals. If you don’t have frozen strawberries on hand, you can substitute them with a berry of your choice or omit them.
  • Bananas & Strawberries: Bananas add a complimentary texture and taste that pairs perfectly with the tartness of the strawberries. You can choose any fruit you’d like as a topping.
  • Granola: Granola adds crunchy flavor and texture to your smoothie bowl. The crunch factor mixed with the smoothness of the smoothie makes a beautiful contrast that’s pleasant for eating. I chose homemade honey granola, however, you can use any granola brand or flavor of your preference. We have a wonderful Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola that would work beautifully!
  • Nut Butter: I chose to add a drizzle of natural creamy peanut butter over top of my bowl. You can use any nut butter you have on hand or prefer. Almond butter, cashew butter, and sun butter all work great as well.

How to Make Ninja Creami Smoothie Bowl

  1. Add frozen strawberries to your Creami pint. Mix together protein powder and almond milk and pour over top of frozen strawberries.
  2. Place the Creami pint into the freezer and allow it to freeze for 24 hours, or at least overnight.
  3. Remove Creami pint from freezer and place it on the machine. Select and run the “Smoothie Bowl” setting.
  4. Remove lid, add a splash of water or milk, replace lid, and run on the “re-spin” cycle.
  5. Remove Creami pint from the machine. Your smoothie should be thick and creamy. If not, re-spin until you get your desired consistency.
  6. Scrape smoothie bowl into a large bowl(s). If only making one smoothie, add half to your bowl and place the second half back into the freezer.
  7. Split toppings, add to the top of the smoothie bowl, and enjoy!

Swaps or Altneratives

This smoothie bowl is completely customizable, meaning you can mix things up as much as you wish to get your perfect combination! If you are vegan, you can opt for a vegan protein powder. Gluten-free folks can use gluten-free granola. And those with a nut allergy can omit the nut butter or use an alternative like honey or sun butter in its place.

Quick Tip

When you take your Creami pint out of the freezer, before you place it on the machine, run it under hot water to allow some melting around the edges. This will help prevent the frosty pieces that can get stuck to the side of your pint.

This recipe makes 2 smoothie bowls. If you are not planning on eating both smoothie bowls at once, simply scoop out half of the mixture and place the remaining mixture back in the freezer to be re-spun and used at a later time.

If you don’t have a Ninja Creami, you can make this recipe using your regular blender. To do so, I recommend adding a few more frozen strawberries and ¼ tsp of xanthan gum to thicken it up.

There’s no Strawberry sugar-free pudding mix in the recipe.

    Reply

    • Hi! I listed the pudding mix as optional. If you want to add it in for more of a strawberry flavor, you can add it to the protein powder & almond milk as part of the base!
